No. We use Caustic Soda in our soaps. When combined with caustic soda, the beautiful oils and butters we use undergo a saponification process (turning them into soap), while retaining all the goodness and properties of the oils used. There is no caustic soda remaining in the finished product. Consider salt, which is a combination of two chemicals, which when combined, turn into something entirely different and safe for consumption. We use no fragrance, preservatives, hardeners, bleaches or any other nasties you get with a commercial soap bar. There is no need! To get a harder bar, we use a hard butter, to get a whiter shade we add kaolin clay and use lighter oils and butters. All our colours are derived from the addition of oils infused with seeds and clays. Our beautiful scents are from heavenly essential oils, which also add nourishing properties to each bar. (For extremely sensitive skin and babies we recommend fragrance-free bars).
